"Public Library Funding & Technology Access Survey"
A Sept. 12, 2007 article in Information Today offers a summary of the American Library Association's 2007 report, Public Library Funding & Technology Access Survey. The actual report is 227 pages. It makes me tired to even think about reading the entire thing, but here's a quote from the Info Today article (you can read the article here if you're interested: http://www.informationweek.com/hardware/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=201805936 )

"Library infrastructure -- space, bandwidth and staffing -- is being pushed to capacity," the report stated. "An increased number of visitors to libraries coupled with increasingly complex technology products and services challenge libraries with facilities that were built before the advent of networked services." The ALA noted also that budgets and staff sizes have generally not grown with the addition of new technology services.
